Commission Thanks Zoning Advisory Committee

The Zoning Advisory Committee received official thanks from the Berkeley County Commission during Thursday’s meeting. The seven members of the committee met 32 times over the last 20 months and put a grand total of 75 hours into drafting the zoning ordinance.County Commissioner Bill Stubblefield the group worked selflessly to better the county and deserved the gratitude of the commission and citizens for their efforts. He said the work of the committee is important despite the fact that the ordinance was voted down because it served to frame the issue, and framing the issue was essential to having an intelligent and meaningful discussion throughout the voting process.Commission president Steve Teufel said the committee put in volunteer work to complete the project, and feels the ordinance they created will still be useful as a research tool and as a referral item.
