Another Mountaineer football player given the boot

Redshirt freshman Evan Rodriguez is no longer a part of the WVU football team. Director of Football Communications Mike Montoro said Rodriguez was suspended from school in April and subsequently dismissed from the team.

Rodriguez was arrested March 20 and charged with a misdemeanor count of battery. He was arraigned and released that same day on a personal recognizance bond.

According to a crimminal complaint, Rodriguez is accused of grabbing a WVU night staff employee at Dadisman Hall, pushing her into a wall and twisting her arm in front of witnesses on March 18.

According to the complaint filed in Monongalia County Magistrate Court, the employee needed medical attention for her injuries.

Rodriguez is awaiting a hearing date. His initial hearing was May 29, but Rodriguez showed up without legal representation and requested a court-appointed attorney. If convicted, he faces a $500 fine and up to a year in jail.
