The Berkeley County Board of Education will be sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program for area children.Assistant Food Services Director at the Board of Education Carolyn Barnett says the Food Service is part of the summer school programs held in local elementary schools.Students are given breakfast when they arrive and are fed lunch before being dismissed at 1:00pm, but the meals are being made available to any children under the age of 18.Barnett says the program has gone on for many years, but that this year it may be more important to area families than ever. She says factors such as high prices at the gas pump have decreased the amount of disposable income parents have and so the program may become more popular this year than it has been in the past.Feeding programs will be held at Berkeley Heights Elementary, Pikeside Learning Center and Winchester Avenue Elementary.
