After lengthy deliberations, the Farm Bill won passage in Congress late last month and it covers everything from food stamps to helping socially disadvantaged farmers. Dr. Ed Grove, Pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church, was a guest on Panhandle Live Tuesday where he said that although the Farm Bill is cumbersome, it is useful because it shows our community how complicated and massive the situation really is. Grove says the issue of growing hunger in our region is going to be a critical issue and that churches need to step up and provide whatever resources they can to help the situation.Grove says a locally grown answer to the crisis would be economic education; more specifically, teaching residents how to budget and eat healthy, while paying less.
