Wednesday is a big day for Berkeley County as Blue Ridge Community and Technical Center unveils its new facility at the Berkeley Business Park. Governor Joe Manchin will be on hand as the 23,000 square foot building is officially opened at a ceremony following a reception and lunch. An open house will be held Saturday from 11:00am until 3:00pm to give the public a chance to come and see the building and its eight offices, seven class rooms and indoor training facility for a new Electric Distribution Technology program being offered by the college.Director of Enrolment Management at Blue Ridge CTC Leslie See visited Panhandle Live Tuesday where she discussed the program that is being done in conjunction with Allegheny Energy. She says the graduates will help meet the needs of their workforce, and that indoor and outdoor training facilities at the new tech center, along with two large classrooms for lecture and instruction will help quickly and effectively train students to work in the field.Graduates can receive a certificate in a year or can choose to go for the associates degree which See says will put graduates more in line to do the work and potentially take on management roles in the future.
