Potomac Watershed Offers Berkeley County a Treaty

Berkeley County Commissioners may soon add their names to a Trash Treaty that’s been passed around to elected officials in the quad-state area.  Ginny Harris, Potomac River Watershed Clean-Up Coordinator, presented Berkeley County Commissioners with the treaty during Thursday’s meeting.  She says the treaty is an awareness agreement to show that officials acknowledge pollution as being a significant problem on the Potomac. If commissioners sign it, the Potomac River watershed, specifically the portion in Harper’s Ferry, is one step closer to being cleaner.Governor Manchin signed the Trash Treaty last Friday. West Virginia is the fourth of Potomac River watershed states to sign the Treaty – Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia are already on board.
