Construction Set to Start on U.S. Route 340

Harpers Ferry motorists are being advised by the Division of Highways that construction work is scheduled on U.S. Route 340 in Jefferson County. The work will begin Monday, June 23rd just north of the bridge across the Shenandoah River, and Stephen Keister of the West Virginia Division of Highways says construction on such a busy road can sometimes be tricky, but they have it all planned out.
If the traffic gets too heavy, Keister says the times will be changed to accommodate the rush.
Keister says the work will consist of placing hot mix asphalt pavement, stone shoulders and pavement markings and he doesn’t expect it to take longer than about a week.
