Library Display Showcases Morgan County Courthouse

Residents of Morgan County are getting a sneak peek at what the new county court house will look like thanks to a display going on this month at the Morgan County Library.  Artists’ renditions showcasing the interior and exterior of the three-story courthouse are being shown on seven boards with two pictures each.  The pictures illustrate various parts of the building, and also give the basic layout for the structure.Head Librarian Larry Springer says the library is an ideal choice for the display because of its central location.  Many people, including travelers, visit the library throughout the week and on weekends; and Springer says the library’s showcase and hours of operation made it an optimum location.Visitors can also see what types of material will be used in the new facility when they view the display.  Samples of tile, carpet and even paint samples for specific areas are being shown along with the artists’ images.  Springer says it is an informative exhibit that gives residents a chance to see what the new building will ultimately look like.Offices of the county government have been operating out of trailers since fire destroyed the Morgan County Courthouse back in 2006.  Springer says the new courthouse is expected to be completed sometime in 2010.
