26 year-old James Prevatt III and his 21-year-old hostage Renee Reynolds are in police custody after a nearly two-day standoff with law enforcment, according tot he Herald Mail.

Prevatt was holding his girlfriend hostage at America’s Best Value Inn since Wednesday night at 11 p.m., when Maryland State Police tried to serve him a warrant.Prevatt is wanted on warrants in South Carolina, Massachusetts, Virginia and Maryland on burglary and larceny charges.Deputy States Attorney for Washington County Jim Michael says that at least one of those charges involved a weapon.

Troopers and deputies evacuated about 12 of the 20 rooms in the motel where other guests were staying on Thursday.  Route 522 in Hancock was closed in both directions because of the hotel’s proximity to the raod way.
