The decision about which of the nearly 50 employees who work under the Berkeley County Commission may lose their jobs will not be made this year. Human Resources Director for the County Alan Davis came to Thursday’s County Commission meeting to inform commissioners that the process was under way, but that he needed four weeks to meet with department heads and conduct an in depth review of the county work force.Davis was given the task of developing guidelines for the reduction of workforce for the county commission earlier this month. Davis says that he will be ready for the January 15th commission meeting, and in the meantime will continue to explore alternative ways of saving the county money. The county is already expected to an estimated $100,000 by not filling four vacant positions in the county commission.
