With the snow that buried the Eastern Panhandle last week, students in Berkeley County got all the vacation away from school they wanted. Now with the roads beginning to become passable, students are gearing back up to return to school. Berkeley County schools are closed Wednesday for students, and operating on a two hour delay Thursday and Friday for students as well, however; Wednesday, BCS employees will be hard at work planning for the students return. Berkeley County Schools Spokeswoman Jaimee Borger says parents need to make preparations for their children’s’ return to school as well. Borger also asks parents to try to work together to identify one or more adults at the bus stops, to try to carpool, and for elementary parents driving students to school to try to get kids to school by 10am and for middle and high school parents to get children to school by 9am to prevent bottlenecking. Borger says she hopes the preparation and time being put in now will help make the commute to school easier and safer for all.
