Snow Storms Could Bring Opportunity

(METRONEWS)-The National Weather Service see recent snowstorms as a window of opportunity.

NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Jason Franklin told members of the Senate Transportation Committee Tuesday—the agency want to work more closely with the state Division of Highways when storms roll through. Franklin says statistics show weather warnings in West Virginia are about 95 percent accurate..but he says the eyes and ears of the DOH could give those warnings even more impact–and that would help the general public.

The senate committee continues to review the state’s response to this month’s snowstorms. Franklin told them weather service is more accurate than it was 30-years ago.

The weather service already has regular conference calls with the state’s Division of Homeland Security
