Advanced Placement Summer Institute hosts teachers in Eastern Panhandle

INWOOD, W.Va. — The West Virginia Center for Professional Development is hosting educators in the Eastern Panhandle for the Advanced Placement Summer Institute this week.

The intensive four-day training brings teachers to Musselman High School to learn strategies that enhance classroom instruction and prepare teachers for the demands of these high-level classrooms.

Karen Linville is the director of AP at the center and she says the institute offers many sessions that cover a wide range of subjects.

“We focus on everything from studio art, to Spanish language, U.S. history,” said Linville. “So, we hit all of the subject areas throughout the summer.”

The Center will serve more than 500 teachers around the state this summer between training sessions in the Eastern Panhandle, Charleston, and Morgantown.
