Mooney says North Korea situation dangerous

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Second District Congressmen Alex Mooney says North Korea seems to be picking a fight.

The rogue communist nation successfully launched an intercontinental ballistics missile Tuesday.

Mooney said he anticipates it going badly for North Korea if the situation escalates.

“North Korea seems to be really asking for somebody to do something,” Mooney said on Panhandle Live Thursday. “They’re really agitating everyone around them.

Mooney said he believes pressure is building as South Korea, Japan and even China watch what North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un does on the international stage.

“That guy is really a dangerous person,” Mooney said. “If he shows aggression towards the United States I think he’s really asking for it, and I think the President will deliver.”

The missile fired this week reached an altitude of more than 1,700 miles and traveled 580 miles for almost 40 minutes before hitting the Sea of Japan.

ThatĀ could put Alaska and even Seattle, Washington in range.

President Donald Trump has said ‘strategic patience’ with North Korea is over.

Mooney expects the President would have bipartisan support in Congress if he were to take military action.
